Mechanic Technician

SUMMARY: Inspection, troubleshooting and repair of electrical power and electronic equipment (480v, 277v, 120v/60Hz), forklifts, conveyor and facility equipment including but not limited to Preventative Maintenance Inspections of the same.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • HVAC, plumbing, pneumatics, carpentry and battery maintenance, as required.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines. Repairs electrical equipment.
  • Must maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Must be able to work variable shift/departments while standing and overtime, as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 2+ years hands on experience in automated, high volume production environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Should be familiar with automated conveyors, packaging and labeling equipment.
  • Must be able to perform welding, as required.
  • Must understand parts organization and ordering of it.
  • Requires ability to fabricate parts, as required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted
