Staff Software Engineer

Summary

The Staff Software engineer has expertise in developing broadband software for the North American Cable industry. The role will be involved in the development of software running on the Cable Gateways, require the expertise in the Docsis, Wi-Fi , MoCA , Zigbee technologies, and will interface with the clients as well as the internal customer delivery manager.

 

Essential Functions

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot Networking Protocols (TCP/UDP/SNMP) with strong exposure to OSI layers of Networking stack
  • Create software components with RDK-B, RDK-M, and OpenWRT software stacks on Router/Extenders/Docsis Modem/EMTA/Fiber ONU.
  • Engineer software components in TR-069/TR-181/ACS server communication protocols.
  • Design and develop software components dealing with Wi-Fi including 802.11 mac layer mechanisms and protocols, Wi-Fi airtime management and QOS, Wi-Fi steering using 802.11k and 802.11v, 802.11r, optimal channel selection, DFS, EasyConnect/DPP, Wi-Fi Extenders, 802.11ax, Wi-Fi telemetry data collection, and automated analysis of WiFi conditions
  • Design and develop embedded software integrating Wi-Fi drivers for SOC vendors (Broadcom/Qualcomm/Quantenna)
  • Interpret test results of Wi-Fi through measuring tools (Veriwave/IXIA/IPerf) and integrate speed test tools on IPerf
  • Software implementation in a Linux embedded environment
  • Communicate with stakeholders including development teams, operations, product and Senior Leadership as required

Required Education and Experience

  • BS in Engineering Sciences, Computer Science or equivalent; MS preferred.
  • 5-15 years related software development experience
  • Experience with 802.11 Wi-Fi Ac/Ax standards /Docsis 3.1/Packet Cable 2.0/1.5 voice
  • Experience with programming constructs such as processes, threads, IPC, network protocol
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Visio

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Understand Agile/Waterfall development methodologies and software development/test plans
  • Subject matter expert in internet protocols and broadband gateways
  • Experience with the full product development lifecycle, including functional and technical specifications, product use cases, user stories, implementation, QA processes, deployment and maintenance
