Senior PSU Engineer
Responsibilities:
Technicolor Connected Home division has a proven track record of delivering state-of-the-art gateway platforms to Telecom Operators worldwide.
For the Broadband Product Unit, we're looking for a senior Power Supply Unit (PSU) Engineer, he/she will be responsible for the review/comment of the design of AC/DC or DC/DC power module, and qualification as well.
The key responsibilities for the PSU engineer are:
- Be involved early in the product design life-cycle, work in close collaboration with the Hardware Architecture team and the Hardware Design team to make the right trade-offs between cost, quality and customer requirements for the AC-DC PSU module and the on-board DC-DC power tree.
- Translate the PSU requirements into technical specification, take the ownership of day-to-day following PSU vendor’s design/qualification, do necessary sanity check to the PSU samples, and sign off the PSU based on vendor’s test report.
- To review/comment on DC-DC power tree to the SCH and Layout design from internal HPL or external ODM partner.
- Do full on-board DC/DC power supply qualifications for internal design.
- Manage, rationalize and optimize the portfolio of power supplies used for Technicolor's Telecom Broadband portfolio.
- Follow-up regulatory standards that affect power supply design and compliancy.
- Closely track evolutions from PSU vendors in order to be up-to-date and follow the latest market trends.
- Define and follow-up on process improvements and KPIs by means of monthly/quarterly review meetings with PSU suppliers.
To stay on top of new power supply technologies, the PSU engineer also stays in close contact with PSU vendor, DC/DC vendors to follow up new power supply technologies and to compare and benchmark solutions from different vendors
Candidate Profile:
Education:
- Master’s degree (or similar by experience) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience:
- 5~10 years relevant hands-on AC-DC and/or DC/DC power supply design, with preferably 2+ years in xDSL/LTE/xPON gateways, WLAN routers, set-top-boxes or tablets.
- Good knowledge of applicable standards (Safety, ErP, CoC).
- Strong knowledge on regulatory and certification aspects related to power supplies(EMC, EMI, ESD, safety, power consumption and efficiency, …).
- Experience in managing an external ODM-partner or major component sub-contractor is a strong plus.
- Negotiation skills
- Accustomed to work in a multi-cultural environment with teams spread over multiple sites.
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills in English
Language:
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (oral + written).
Others:
- Willing to travel to China/Taiwan for short periods.
